Revelation 19:6-10
Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting:
"Hallelujah!
For our Lord God Almighty reigns.
Let us rejoice and be glad
and give him glory!
For the wedding of the Lamb has come,
and his bride has made herself ready.
Fine linen, bright and clean,
was given her to wear." (Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of the saints.)
Then the angel said to me, "Write: 'Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!' " And he added, "These are the true words of God."
At this I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, "Do not do it! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy."
Entering this sanctuary Friday night caused all realities of car trouble and grief to somehow become overshadowed by the holiness of God. And I just love how God used so many analogies in the Bible to teach us about His love. There's nothing like a wedding to bring to mind the love Jesus has for His church....and how honored we should feel to be invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb.
I thought for today I would share some memories from the wedding rehearsal.
Cy makes his way to the front of the sanctuary...ready for the big night!
Maura's dad brings her down the aisle.
Maura's three sisters and a couple friends from college were the bridesmaids.
Some of Cy's high school friends and a great friend from work stood with him as groomsmen.
(I babysat the man in the middle every summer when he was in elementary school! He's now an assistant principal near Bowling Green..Byron Darnall! Where does the time go?)
Cy and Maura hugging Maura's parents. Maura's sister, Andie, watching with a grin.
This is one of my favorite pictures. Mom hugging Maura and dad looking so happily at Cy....
This is a snapshot of the rehearsal for Cy and Maura's wedding.
And if you think about it, we are all in our "rehearsal days" for the wedding of Jesus to the church which will come at a time that has yet to be announced.
Matthew 25
1"At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2Five of them were foolish and five were wise. 3The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. 4The wise, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps. 5The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep. 6"At midnight the cry rang out: 'Here's the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!' 7"Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. 8The foolish ones said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.' 9" 'No,' they replied, 'there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.' 10"But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut. 11"Later the others also came. 'Sir! Sir!' they said. 'Open the door for us!' 12"But he replied, 'I tell you the truth, I don't know you.' 13"Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.
I'll share wedding pictures tomorrow.
Until then, thank you for every prayer for Cy and Maura and for our family.
Praying for all of you too.....town by town...country by country....Please know you are prayed for in Kentucky.
Praying you have accepted God's invitation to His Son's wedding banquet and are ready for the Bridegroom's return,
