The Titans are playing tonight. Nick's favorite team!!! Our son Evan called today from college and asked if anyone was coming to watch it. He wanted to drive home and watch it with Tim. I was thrilled!! And two of Nick's buddies are here too..helping Tim feel so loved.
But I was extra-happy when I got a text tonight from Carla saying she was watching the game and had whispered a prayer for us.
Carla is my friend and she was also Nick's homebound teacher! She pulled Nick through his portfolio writings and because of her we have a beautiful memoir about "Mamaw" that Nick wrote. A treasure I haven't even been able to give my mom yet.
Carla mentioned that she thought it was so perfect that the Titans were playing in the opening game. Sort-of like Nick was saying that he is here and it is ok.....

I've been dreading football season. It was always Nick's favorite time of year.
But honestly, the sounds of the football game coming from the living room and the frequent hoots and hollers from the guys are both making me smile tonight.
Tim is wearing one of Nick's jerseys. He has three of Nick's Titans' ball caps lining the top of the TV. And I know deep inside that...
Nick has the best seat in the house!

Tammy--Just wanted to let you know that as my husband and I watched the game in Wisconsin, I thought of you and your family--and Nick's love for the team.
Seeing and hearing anything about the Titans will be an automatic 'trigger'--reminder to pray for you all!

Last night when I turned on the TV, I somehow ended up on this channel-- when I saw it was the Titans I had to watch the rest-- it was the end of the 4th qtr and tied! I was praying that they would win, but mostly I was thinking of your family because I was sure you were all watching too.
We've never met but through different people I was made aware of Nick and his battle about 5 years ago. I was teaching then in a private school and our 7th - 9th grade classes started praying for Nick every day. Through your blog I knew that Nick was a Titans fan. My family are BIG Steelers fans (husband is from Pittsburgh). But, Thursday as we made plans to watch the big game, I thought of you and your family and whispered prayers several times during the day asking our precious savior to make this a good time rather than one of pain for your family. I'm so glad your family was able to enjoy this bittersweet experience together. Continuing to pray for you....
Oh, my 14 year old teased her Titan friends on her facebook by putting this: "STEELERS vs. tiny tn. titans". Sharing this for Nick!
