A Christian publishing company contacted me this past week and wondered if any of you would be willing to answer four questions for them. They are considering some new Bible studies for women (men, feel free to answer for your wives or ask them what they think) and wondered about the following things:
If you have time to either post your answers or email me your answers to:
tammynischan@yahoo.com,
I will compile them and send them on to the publisher.
Although I am doing this as a favor to the publisher, I still feel that if you take the time to answer these questions you should at least be offered the chance at a prize!
I will have a drawing on August 2nd for a set of Nick's notecards ($20 value!) and your name will be in the drawing if you either post answers to the questions above on this blog entry or if you email me your answers!
Love you all,
- From your perspective, what are the needs if any that aren't currently being met in women's small group studies?
- Does your women's group currently use women's studies or do you create your own?
- What would the 'ideal' small group study include - devotionals, journaling, video, etc.?
- Do you have a favorite study that you've used previously? What is it?

Hello - Just out visiting this afternoon. I'll try to answer the questions:
1- Women need time to be heard. I have always said a Bible study that encourages women to write and tell their story would be so rich.
2-We use both. Already designed studies and those developed in house. I actually created my own study last summer and facsilitated it for 6 weeks.
3-It's important to not try to do it all in small group - concentrate on study, prayer, journaling -but not all.
4-I love Precepts.
See you next week. Meanwhile,
Shine!
Hi Tammy,
Here are my thoughts on the questions:
1. Would love to see some studies on specific women's issues like PMS, avoiding emotional/physical affairs, conflict resolution, etc.
2. We use both. I've written one that I'm proposing at She Speaks this summer, but we also use many that are on the market.
3. I prefer studies that are more inductive, but the topical ones listed above work better as deductive I think. I enjoy having space to journal thoughts or prayers. The best I think are ones that have daily lessons.
3. He Speaks to Me by Priscilla Shirer is definitely one of my favorites. Also, because I like the inductive style, Anne Graham Lotz studies are good.
Hope this helps,
Bridget
From your perspective, what are the needs if any that aren't currently being met in women's small group studies?
*I am in my 20's (almost 30's) and feel that our church does not meet the spiritual needs of my age group. I love fellowshipping with women of all ages, but need studies that are geared toward life with little ones, or newly wed life or how to get involved in a church without having to work the nursery- lol.
Does your women's group currently use women's studies or do you create your own?
*I actually attend a bible study at a church in another city that meets during the morning hours. They use pre-made studies but add to them to personalize it for the group.
What would the 'ideal' small group study include - devotionals, journaling, video, etc.?
*Devos, video & personal sharing. It's good for women to talk if they feel they can. Being a ball of emotions is a terrible way to live and not feeling you have a place to express them is even worse! Accountabilty and Mentorship is important to my Christian walk.
Do you have a favorite study that you've used previously? What is it?
Anything by Beth Moore.
